As with many industries, the event industry sees seasonal trends in the types of events we do and how busy we are. Winter gives way to holiday events and planning; summer is slow with a variety of events to tend to, while spring and fall are full of action, from weddings and corporate events to out-of-town events such as New York fashion week. Keep reading to see how events change from season to season here in Charleston, South Carolina.
Winter
As the holiday season gets into full swing and the weather gets cooler, we see an array of holiday-themed events. Our team has been a part of Uncorked, an unforgettable holiday event taking place every December at Boone Hall Plantation, for the past few years. We were also happy to be a part of The Charleston Place hotel's holiday exhibition this past year with a month-long installation. As the new year kicks off, we see a spike in wedding planning, with a few magical winter weddings during January and February. Our favorite local winter event is the South Eastern Wildlife Expo, that takes place every February. This event leads us right into the busy spring season in Charleston.
Spring
Not only is Spring a busy season for events as the weather warms up, but also the start of the tourist season in Charleston. We see a major increase in outdoor events for all kinds of celebrations, such as corporate events, graduations, and charity galas. We also see an abundance of stunning weddings throughout the Charleston area. Think over the top floral designs and, of course, beautiful lighting installations that bring in greenery aspects.
Summer
Summer is typically a slow season for both planning and weddings in the Charleston area. The temperatures are almost unbearably hot, and most people are off taking well-deserved vacations. Although we see a few June weddings, most summers, we help produce a variety of out-of-town and local events. This past summer, we participated in Orlando Fashion Week and collaborated with a local event and wellness club to help put on a pool party with well-known DJ Jonas Blue.
Fall
When summer is over, we see another spike in events and planning as the back-to-school season starts, and the weather becomes crisp and cool. In September, we head to NYFW for a number of fashion week events. Back in Charleston, we tend to a variety of events, from corporate end-of-year celebrations, a Charleston Opera Theater show, and an influx of weddings. Weddings in the fall tend to held outdoors or in open-air tents with various lighting options, from string lights to our natural style Leran and Ashley Pendants.
