Creating the Backyard Wedding of Your Dreams

Backyard venues offer a convenient, budget-friendly, and intimate space for your wedding. There are an abundance of benefits to a backyard wedding, from design and timeline control to the sentimental feeling of the space. If you're considering hosting a wedding in your backyard, keep reading to find out the necessities of planning and see some of our favorite backyard weddings in Charleston.

Riverfront Wedding

This private home in Mt. Pleasant offered plenty of room for this couple to have a separate ceremony and reception spaces. The side area of the home was transformed into a stunning riverfront wedding ceremony with our 9-foot cross adorned with florals as the altar. From there, guests headed to the backyard to enjoy a night full of dinner and dancing. Renting formal tables and a dance floor for your backyard wedding is just as easy as at an event space and is the best way to create a traditional wedding atmosphere. Add some of our Boxwood Walls to block eyesores and personal belongings. They also add a pop of color and greenery to match your space. We recommend hanging an abundance of Café Lights to ensure your guests can see clearly as night sets in.

Intimate Microwedding

This backyard wedding took place at the bride's family home on Kiawah Island. The small space was transformed into a tropical oasis fit for an intimate affair of 30 guests. Although small, the space was easily transitioned from ceremony to reception. Smilax vines and Café Lights were strung over the ceremony and dining space, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. Adding greenery to your lighting can help tie in the look of your outdoor space. Bring in other design elements such as florals and candles to add a personal flair to your theme.

Tented Reception

If your backyard offers enough space, it may be smart to add a tent to your design. Tents provide protection from the elements and are the perfect way to give your guests some much-needed shade and shelter. A tent also allows for a blank canvas that you can personalize with lighting and decor. This couple opted for a hanging greenery installation in combination with a unique pattern of our Café Lights. Utilize the space surrounding your tent by adding outdoor seating with more string lighting to create a cohesive look.
